This show is a direct result of a recent media firestorm that has come to my campus, the University of Maine at Farmington, as a result of an apparently controversial art project involving faux American flags.
Due to the cancellation of a meeting to discuss this issue, which has aggravated already strained first amendment right problems around campus, I brought a panel of friends together to discuss the right to free speech, the ways it has been infringed around campus, and the way the story has been blown out of proportion by recent republican bloggers. We outline the events of the past 48 hours, including from beginning to end, the Art Project and the resulting backlash.
Our main point is that everyone has to right to say what they want, but they do not have the right to censor the views of others. We are also bringing a point of view to the nation that has been largely unrepresented in the media.
Runtime: 95 minutes.
This episode contains HIGHLY explicit material and speech, and may offend some listeners.
